For over two decades, the quest to build a long-distance quantum network has been hindered by the challenge of developing high-performance quantum memories - needed for quantum repeaters.

By using a chain of satellites acting like lenses to reflect photons around the globe, we enable entanglement distribution and secure device-independent quantum key distribution (QKD) anywhere on Earth. Our novel architecture redefines the possibilities for global-scale quantum communication.
